It was named Shaykhantahur Academic Lyceum affiliated with the University of World Economy and Diplomacy University.
The lyceum commenced its activities in September 1999 at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. On March 20, 2000, the First President of Uzbekistan, I. Karimov, visited the new building of the lyceum.
According to the decision No. PQ-3290 dated September 26, 2017, by the President of Uzbekistan regarding “Further Improvement of Targeted Training System for Candidates for Admission to Higher Educational Institutions,” Shaykhantahur Academic Lyceum under the University of World Economy and Diplomacy was assigned to this university's jurisdiction. Based on this decision's stipulations, on November 10, 2017, a letter from the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education (No. 87-02-3497) led to the approval of the academic lyceum's charter by the Scientific-Methodological Council of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy on April 26, 2018. It was registered under number 2070 on May 14, 2018, and has since been referred to as the academic lyceum of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.
